Be Proud

Be proud of your tired feet after taking a nice long hike.

Be proud of conquering fear on a dark and stormy night.

Be proud of gardening callouses that appear upon your hand,

Or when wildflowers bloom robustly across the rugged land.

Be proud when you have plucked a big, ole pile of weeds,

For you’re making room for all those newly planted seeds!

Be proud when you mow a sweet aging neighbor’s lawn,

Or when you rescue a baby animal, be it snake, bird, or fawn.

Take pride in things that matter not in things that will fade,

Like love of money and power; for they will both float away.

The important things in life are things that seldom speak,

But always keep their promises and forever protect the weak.

So follow that brave path of goodness,

Learn of things both good and true.

And before you know it you will be living your very best YOU!
