Hound Dogs Are Handy

Hound dogs are handy in all sorts of ways.

Ways you've never expected and ways that last for days.

They let you know if there's jelly blooped upon your shirt.

Or if, by chance, you may have dropped your doughnut in the dirt.

They dig great holes for planting be it for tulips, bush, or tree.

They can move more dirt than a dump truck from Georgia to Tennessee.

They love adventure and hiking in the hills way down yonder.

They can go on a tank of gas forever as they wander, wander, wander.

A hound's hug can be quite loving though it often comes with drool.

It's part of the total package plus other hounds think it's cool.

And if you're ever lucky enough to hear a sweet hound bay,

You'll hold your ears then laugh and grin and hope it bays all day.

Hounds are not for everyone.

But that's really not my point.

I write this poem to simply say,

I'm honored to have lots of hounds that completely fill my day!
