Soft Yellow Visitor

She was on her way to somewhere when she rested upon my hand.

A rich yellow beauty she was. I wondered how many beats per minute her tiny heart was beating. I marveled at how her little brain reminded her sizable wings to continue flapping. I wondered if she was enjoying the short life span she had been given on this earth and where she was headed. I wondered if her transformation from caterpillar to butterfly was a difficult one. I wondered if the big world seemed scary to her. The calm flapping of her wings reminded me all will be well in the final chapter. She stayed only but a little while, yet in those brief moments time stood still. I realized that I, like a butterfly, am living a short life on this earth. These soft yellow visitors are good reminders to continue proudly spreading your wings and elegantly floating along on your adventure not worrying about tomorrow - because you are headed somewhere, too.
